Including:
- Targeting reductions in upfront carbon emissions, water and energy use
- 100% of its energy coming from renewables with no gas utilised.
- Inclusive construction practices that generated employment opportunities for disadvantaged and
under-represented groups. - The building’s design and construction celebrates First Nations people, culture and heritage
- Over 500 trees have been planted on site



Energy Management & Conservation
Perth Film Studios has a Green Star Buildings certification, which includes a 100 kWp array of solar panels and a commitment to 100% renewable energy.
Sustainable Resource Use
A key focus is on water conservation techniques, including monitoring water usage and conducting regular audits with the aim of reducing potable water consumption – building on the existing measures such as low flow fittings installed throughout thae facility.
Employee Engagement & Training
Comprehensive training programmes are essential for educating building users on energy conservation, water efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable procurement. Ongoing training and refresher courses ensure that Perth Film Studios users remain informed about the latest sustainability practices.
Waste Management & Recycling
A detailed plan for Waste Management and Recycling is presented to every user of the Perth Film Studios facility – it includes, but is not limited to:
- Waste streams to be managed such as general waste, commingled recycling, paper, cardboard, containers for change (C4C), polystyrene, food waste, and soft plastics (clear film/wrap)
- Appropriate bins and equipment for various waste streams to ensure separation of recyclable streams as appropriate
- Instructions for how waste and recycling will be transferred, stored and collected
- Size and layout of waste storage areas
- Roles and responsibilities for waste management
- Targets to divert waste from landfill and reduce total materials generated
- Principles of good messaging and signage for effective segregation of recyclables
- Monitoring, evaluating and reporting performance procedures

Community Engagement & Social Responsibility
Perth Film Studios is committed to cultural integration, community engagement and First Nations engagement with all work at the site.
The facility acknowledges and embraces the history and cultural identity of the land on which the facility stands and considers itself a part of a community that includes traditional owners, residents, local government and Western Australian practitioners. It is a site for our community to share culture, stories and history with the world and allow the world to visit and share their stories with our community.
